Description :
Moisture condensation can be a real concern when a radiant barrier is installed on the attic, particularly in extremely humid or cold climates. Water vapor in the air can condense on the surface of the roof sheet. Condensation of water could lead to the following problems:
1) the existing insulation can become wet and lose
some of its insulating value,
2) water spots can appear on the ceiling, and
3) under severe conditions, the ceiling framing can rot.
To minimize the risk of water damages to ceilings or risk of corrosion due to condensation under roofs, a micro-perforated radiant barrier could substantially assist in the reduction of condensation and prevent potential moisture problems.
Perforated materials are suitable for many types of retrofit applications and for some new construction in places of high humidity and in areas of cold climate.
However, PE bubble foil and PE foam foil cannot be perforated and kraft paper foil is also not suitable for perforation since it can absorb moisture easily. Our micro-perforated radiant barrier is a breathable material; in other words, it can allow harmful moisture and humidity to escape and eliminate condensation.
